Tips I Found Out From My Out-of-State Moving Problem

I still can't believe how dumb I was. I lastly earned my dream job and all I needed to do was pack up my things and move from my household's home in Macon, Georgia, to my new home in Mountain View, California. Continue reading as I relay my tale of concern, remembering that all of my wounds were self-inflicted. Hopefully, you'll gain from my lots of mistakes.

Cellular Remorse

My mistakes started before I ever left Georgia. I planned all stages of my task transfer by looking into the very best moving companies. If only I had actually put in the time to update my forwarding address at the same time, I would've saved myself a great deal of stress. You'll understand why in just a minute. After I got all of my things boxed up and left Georgia for excellent, the move itself was easy. My movers dealt with all the information. All I had to do was get in my car and drive west. A buddy made the drive with me, since he 'd never ever gone to California. We took turns behind the wheel. When I wasn't driving, I passed the time on my cell phone, texting and binge-watching television shows. Just later on did I understand the error I 'd made. I had not upgraded my cell phone contract to reflect my new home. Throughout the cross-country journey, I sustained numerous dollars in roaming fees for a bill that typically costs $75. Please don't tell my brand-new task how bad I am at mathematics.
Stuck in the '90s

As soon as we came to the new place, there was another big problem. I had not kept in mind to switch on the power at my new residence. So, my friend and I had to rent a room at an extended stay hotel the very first couple of nights till the power business got here. Without power, I also had no other way to know that I 'd forgotten something else essential. I had not attached my cable television and Web services, either. Let me simply state that going numerous days without Web made me seem like I was caught in the early 1990s. I seemed like getting something pierced and then watching a Nirvana concert. Even when I finally had power at my home, I had no chance to surf the web without using my cell phone. This is a good time to remind you that I still didn't know my cellular phone service wasn't upgraded. I got struck with California roaming charges the entire time I was awaiting the magical look of the cable television person.
The Fuzz

Mentioning costs, I absolutely forgot here to alter my forwarding address. That suggested that my charge card costs didn't get here. I got hit with late charges for it. I might have quickly avoided this mistake by signing up for paperless service. That wasn't my only change-of-address screw-up, either. I got pulled over by a California authorities officer. He explained that my license plate wasn't updated. He pointed out that I had an out-of-state chauffeur's license and registration. When you change states of residence, all three of those files need upgrading. I needed to pay a $175 ticket and after that over $500 for the brand-new licenses. Simply since I got a brand-new task does not imply I'm made of cash. Why do the cops not know this? Once I finally got wise to the fact that I required to upgrade whatever, I also attempted to upgrade my vehicle insurance. Would you believe they wouldn't let me in the beginning?! I had to send them an entire tree's worth of documentation in order to encourage them I 'd moved. Then, they notified me that I 'd need to pay more for insurance coverage in a greater danger state. Likewise, I 'd need to pay more up until my vehicle passed the California emissions test. Guess what? It didn't! My cherished 1996 supremely American muscle vehicle is too much of a gas guzzler to pass the environmentally-focused state emissions test. I'm going to have to pay more up until I buy a new car. What have I learned from my experience? Actually one hour of preparation might have saved me lots of time and thousands of dollars. All I had to do was upgrade all my forwarding details, remedy my billing information and mobile phone contract, and notify my insurance business about the modifications. Another hour or so at the California Department of Motor Automobiles would've corrected all my license and registration issues. Since I didn't do this, I needed to invest a number of days at a dive motel, got mocked mercilessly by my buddy, and lost a lot of loan I might've invested on new furniture for my new house phone.
